Six Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School students have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.
John H. Barton, Robert P. Beeland, Ashlyn N. Masters, Mary Catherine Thomson, Amanda G. Wilmer and Albert J. Wouters were all recognized as scholastically talented seniors this year by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC).
Some 34,000 Commended Students have been recognized this year throughout the United States for exceptional academic progress—placing in the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition. Students were judged by results from the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

"The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said Michelle S. Cicirello, Executive Director of Scholarship Administration. “These students represent a valuable national resource, and recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”
