Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:

  1. Amy Poehler will be speaking at Savannah College of Art and Design's graduation ceremonies this weekend. The ceremonies will take place on Friday and Saturday with events split into two categories. Virtual and in-person ceremonies will be held. (WJCL News Savannah)
  2. The Savannah Police Department has arrested a 79-year-old man in connection to the E. Anderson Street shooting. The incident occurred on Thursday in the 1600 block around 3:00 a.m. and resulted in a 42-year-old man suffering non-life-threatening injuries. Nathaniel Hill has been charged with aggravated assault. (WJCL News Savannah)
  3. It's sea turtle season and Tybee Island Marine Science Center reports it will be a record-breaking season. The center is urging residents to keep beaches clear of obstacles, especially at night when sea turtles make their way up into the sand. Residents should also avoid using a flashlight so the sea turtles are not disturbed. (WTOC)

From our sponsor:

Are you a Savannah resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

To learn more, visit Masterworks.io, where Savannah Daily readers can skip the waitlist.
