Here are the top stories today in Savannah:

  1. The Family-School Partnership Program is encouraging the recognition of the many engaged parents across the state during Family Engagement Month this year. This year, Georgia Department of Education's (GaDOE) Family-School Partnership Program is welcoming schools to submit virtual game-based learning projects, which will link to online academic  resources, for parents and students to play at home in support of student learning. Winners will be announced on National Parental Involvement Day, or November 18, 2021. (Press Release Desk )
  2. The Savannah Police Department has charged the suspect in the 2020 shooting death of Kareem Smalls. On Monday, November 1, SPD charged Dyanta Samuels, 24, with murder. According to the police, Samuels was already in custody at the Chatham County Detention Center on charges in connection to a drug investigation. (WTOC)
  3. The Savannah Regional Film Commission was recently named the "Outstanding Film Commission" by the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) at the 8th annual LMGI Awards. (savannahceo.com)
  4. The rate that Georgia gas prices are increasing has gone down this week due to a decrease in demand. However, Savannah is still seeing the highest gas prices in the state. (WTVC)
  5. This week, the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament's Final Stage will be contested at The Landings Club, bringing professional golf back to Savannah. (WJCL)
