Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:

  1. The Savannah Police Department is hoping to get more eyes on crime by expanding a current program that will add more license plate readers throughout the city.
    Savannah police report that almost 70 percent of crimes in the city involve a vehicle. To help solve crimes faster, the department is adding 32 Flock Safety cameras to the existing 16 cameras in the city. (WJCL News Savannah)
  2. Chatham County leaders and advocates are pushing for clean energy advancements and legislation that can help counter climate change. Chatham County says that coastal areas such as Savannah are vulnerable to the sea level rising and they need to prepare. The sea level is expected to rise one foot by 2050, according to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The county is looking to roll out new electric buses, build affordable smart homes, and add solar panels. (fox28media.com)
  3. The Savannah Fire Department extinguished a car fire on Friday after responding to reports of a car on fire. The incident took place on I-516 North at Exit 5. Savannah Fire Engine 6 extinguished the fire successfully and thankfully no one was injured. (WTOC)
