Savannah arts shops see business boom as SCAD students return (wtoc.com) — Savannah art supply and camera shops are gearing up for a surge in customers as thousands of SCAD students return for fall classes on Sept. 18. Owners say they adjust inventory and offer discounts based on students' needs, while students describe how their arrival brings fresh energy and vital business to Savannah's many small, locally owned shops.
   

2. SCCPSS releases statement following air quality testing at Jenkins High School (wsav.com) — Families in Savannah should know that recent air quality tests at Jenkins High School found 23 of 24 classrooms within acceptable mold levels, but one classroom showed high mold spores and was cleared of students and staff. Inspectors also found mold growth in both locker rooms, though tests there were acceptable, and the district says remediation and close monitoring will continue to protect students and employees.
   

3. Chatham County marine patrol urges caution as busiest boating season ends with Labor Day (wtoc.com) — As Labor Day wraps up the busiest boating season around Savannah and Chatham County, marine patrol officers are urging local boaters to slow down near shorelines, stay sober, and watch for dehydration. They report frequent holiday citations for speeding too close to land and alcohol-related issues, and they're reminding residents that everyone on board, including those on tubes or skis, must stay safe and sober.
   

4. Man Allegedly Posed as Pro Basketball Player to Steal $90,000 BMW From Hotel Valet (complex.com) — A luxury BMW loaner SUV was stolen from the Hyatt Regency Savannah's valet after a man allegedly posed as a pro basketball player and used a valet ticket to drive it away. Police later found the previously stolen Audi he arrived in, and the dealership tracked the BMW to Myrtle Beach, highlighting an ongoing investigation affecting downtown visitors and businesses.
   

5. Several days of heavy rain and thunderstorms to persist across the Gulf Coast (foxweather.com subscription) — Savannah is under a Level 1 flash flood threat as a stalled cold front and tropical moisture bring repeated heavy downpours and thunderstorms early this week. Forecasters say slow-moving storms could overwhelm drainage systems along the Gulf and Southeast coasts, with 1 to 2 inches of rain or more possible through Friday in some communities.
