Nine HBCU bands compete in Savannah battle, celebrating impact through music (wtoc.com) — Savannah hosted nine HBCU marching bands Sunday for the Big HBCU Battle of the Bands, giving local families a front-row seat to powerful performances and college culture. With Savannah State University and Mayor Van Johnson welcoming visitors, organizers highlighted how music, education, and opportunity connect while encouraging area students to explore HBCU pathways.
   

3. Banana Ball brings teen's Make-A-Wish to life (savannahherald.com) — In Savannah, a 17-year-old Make-A-Wish recipient from Massachusetts is spending the day with the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals at Grayson Stadium, including special behind-the-scenes access. Her wish centers on meeting catcher Bronson "Bronny" Bolhom and helping promote his "Catch Kindness" initiative, which encourages fans to spread kindness and includes players handing out flowers and compliment cards.
   

4. Savannah celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with community breakfast (wtoc.com) — Savannah community and business leaders kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a festive breakfast hosted by the Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Congressman Buddy Carter backs Doctors Not AI Act (wsav.com) — From Savannah, Congressman Buddy Carter is backing new bipartisan legislation to ensure that doctors, not artificial intelligence systems, make final decisions on patients' healthcare coverage. The bill would still allow AI as a support tool but require human review of records, disclosure when algorithms are used, and added transparency around decisions affecting claims like mental health care and cancer treatment.
