Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. The Savannah Police Department has announced that the man found dead at Myers Middle School last month was the victim of a homicide. According to investigators, Joshua Mills, 28, was discovered on Mar. 13 with an initial investigation reporting that the death was an isolated incident and had nothing to do with the location. Additional information has not been released but the department is asking anyone with information related to the case to call the department's Violent Crimes Tip Line. (WJCL News Savannah)
  2. Savannah State University has been awarded $830,000 by the U.S. Department of Education. The money will go towards a new modeling and simulation program with the existing Computer Science Technology degree program. This will make the university one of the few Historically Black Universities on the east coast offering this type of program. (WTOC)
  3. Savannah's Air National Guard Training Center has been targeted by the Biden Administration for closure following a budget proposal. Georgia politicians from both sides of the aisle are upset at the proposed closure. The center is responsible for conducting air-to-air training exercises for reserve and active duty pilots.
