In an effort to be transparent with parents and staff, Savannah-Chatham County will begin posting school-related COVID numbers.

10/5/2020

In an effort to be transparent with our parents and staff, Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools will begin posting school-based systemwide active COVID numbers each week. The data is not cumulative and will be refreshed weekly based on new positive and close contact cases; as well as individuals entering and exiting quarantine.

How does SCCPSS handle a school-based positive case?

If an SCCPSS teacher or student tests positive for COVID19, we will notify the local health department and contact tracing procedures will begin. If the tracing impacts our school family, we will notify the appropriate parents in accordance with privacy requirements. The District has a communication plan in the event an employee or student becomes ill at school, tests positive for the virus or is exposed to someone who has tested positive. Parents must keep children who are ill at home. Students who get sick at school will be referred to the school nurse and parents will be contacted.
