Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Carlyle, a junior from Vinings, has been accepted to the Lott Summer Leadership Institute for High School Students at the University of Mississippi. The goals of the program are to develop leadership skills in young citizens and prepare them for college. In order to achieve these goals, the Summer Leadership Institute brings together student leaders from across the Southeast for three weeks to earn college credit on the UM campus and to begin the study of leadership. The program culminates with a one-week trip to Washington, D.C., during which the participants see the federal government in action, hear from national leaders, and tour the nation's Capitol.

Other Info About Carlyle: Carlyle is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award. As part of her requirements to achieve the Girl Scout Gold Award, she will host an all-day, week-long art camp at a local Women’s and Children’s Shelter this summer. In addition, Carlyle has served on Lovett’s Discipline Council for the last three years, she is a member of the Singer & Madrigalists group (a select group of 47 Upper School singers), she is on Lovett’s cross country team, and is also a Lovett mascot. Carlyle was selected to participate in the Model Atlanta Regional Commission last year. (Now in its 13th year, the award-winning Model Atlanta Regional Commission brings together some 50 teens from all 10 counties in the region for six months of study, debate and hands-on activities regarding regional issues and challenges. It gives teens an opportunity to learn more about the community in which they live while honing their leadership skills).

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Carlyle tackles everything 150-percent. She has a charismatic personality, which she leads with in a very positive way. Carlyle never backs down from a challenge and volunteers at every opportunity. She is an exceptional kid who gives so much of herself and her time to support people.
