Halpern says that the completed Belmont development will have 274 luxury apartments, 153 single-family residential homes, 47,593 sq. ft. of restaurant and retail space, and ample greenery throughout the 48-acre site, which is adjacent to the new Smyrna Elementary School. Belmont is expected to open its first stage in the fall.

The long-stalled conversion of the former Belmont Hills shopping center finally got underway in earnest in late August, when a groundbreaking ceremony was held on the site at the intersection of Atlanta and WIndy Hill Roads.
