Cancelled: Smyrna's Memorial Day Ceremony

Smyrna's annual Memorial Day ceremony scheduled for Monday has been cancelled.

SMYRNA, GA — Smyrna’s annual Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial lawn on King Street has been cancelled, according to the city of Smyrna. It was originally scheduled for Monday morning.

The event honors the valiant men and women of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, both past and present. It would have commemorated the 100th anniversary of both the Treaty of Versailles and the founding of the American Legion.

The event was going to include current and vintage military vehicles and weaponry, an honor guard, 21-gun salute, echo taps, wreath laying ceremony and the elite and unique Georgia 116th Army National Guard Band.
