The relocation will fully clear the company’s space in the Towers at Wildwood Plaza office complex, the Marietta Daily Journal reports; there were originally some 2,000 workers in the building, but the company announced in 2013 it was planning to centralize its operations to cut down on costs.
County officials are sad to see Coke leave Cobb, but tell the MDJ that they are hopeful that a new tenant can be found soon.

In January, Coca-Cola announced it planned to slash its workforce, including 500 jobs in Atlanta. The Associated Press reported at the time that the move was designed to reduce costs and pour the extra cash into marketing and advertising campaigns as the demand for soft drinks continues to shrink.
An Atlanta Business Chronicle report from December said that most bottling and distribution jobs will be spared.
Towers at Wildwood is a 700,000 sq. ft. complex that contains tenants such as GE, Vonage, and Allstate, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The building was sold to America’s Capital Partners for $144.5 million price tag in September.
