The Atlanta Opera Film Series: "The Audition"

The Atlanta Opera will be showing “The Audition,” by award-winning filmmaker Susan Froemke.  This feature-length documentary takes you behind the scenes at the Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions, where each year thousands of hopefuls compete for a cash prize, the chance to sing on the Met stage, and the opportunity to launch a major operatic career.  The film focuses on three very different tenor contestants including former Atlanta Opera Chorus member, Ryan Smith, who at the age of 30, and with little formal training, was pursuing his dream of an operatic career before he passed away in 2008.  This movie is rated PG-13.

Guests will enjoy complimentary treats, activities, and the chance to see a movie in The Atlanta Opera’s air conditioned Rehearsal Hall.   Guests also will have the opportunity to enter to win two tickets to The Atlanta Opera’s production of Lucia di Lammermoor, November 12, 15, 18 and 20 at the Cobb Energy Centre.
