Farber Has The Last Laugh

Longtime Atlanta comedian Jerry Farber shows no signs of slowing down as he brings his act to Smyrna this week.

Legendary Atlanta comedian Jerry Farber is bringing big laughs to Smyrna this week as he will give a free performance at on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Farber has been making Atlanta laugh for five decades at shows around town, and most recently at his nightclub, Jerry Farber’s Side Door, alongside Landmark Diner in Buckhead. He was twice voted Atlanta’s Entertainer of the Year.

“I’ve always wanted, ever since I was a kid, to be a performer because my parents loved it,” Farber said. “They used to take me to New York or Miami to see these folks. And it always seemed like the adults had fun doing it. I wasn’t always around adults who seemed to be enjoying themselves, but mine did because they loved seeing Broadway shows and good piano singers and stuff. Plus I had the talent.”

Farber’s performance in Smyrna will be at Delmar Gardens, a retirement community. Farber learned to appreciate senior citizens from his own family experience; all four of his grandparents lived into their 90s.

“But what I got from my family is really that old people just seemed taller and had more wrinkles, but they were still young,” he said. “In my own experience they were still very much alive, had a lot of passion.”
