GoFundMe Page Set Up for Smyrna Student Injured in Bubble Soccer
Salvador Reyes, a varsity soccer captain at Campbell High, was nearly killed in a freak accident.
SMYRNA, GA -- A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for the Smyrna high school student who nearly died in an accident while playing a game known as "bubble soccer."
Salvador "Chava" Reyes is a varsity soccer captain at Campbell High. On May 13, during a season-ending celebration on the field, Reyes suffered a serious injury to his forehead and nose, causing his brain to bleed and then swell. Reyes is in intensive care at a local hospital until the swelling in his brain and face subsides.
Organizers of the campaign also say he will need reconstructive surgery, and will be in the hospital for several more weeks.

Reyes' sister, Ruby Reyes, told 11Alive that "bubble soccer" involved each player getting inside a large cushioned bubble.
“This was just kind of an activity that they had planned for the banquet,” she said. “Bubble soccer is meant to protect; we don’t know how it is that he was impacted here when the bubbles were supposed to protect him.”
