Hall of Fame Pitcher Sets Up First Seat in Braves' New Stadium

Workers are getting SunTrust Park ready for its first pitch next year.

SMYRNA, Ga. -- One of the biggest names in the history of the Atlanta Braves installed the first seat Wednesday in the team's new home.

Tom Glavine, the Hall of Fame pitcher, put on a hard hat and set up the seat in SunTrust Park, the stadium where the Braves will begin play next year. The baseball team is tentatively scheduled to host the San Diego Padres in their first game at the new ballpark on April 13, 2017, according to the Associated Press.

On its Facebook page, the new ballpark posted photos of Glavine and a video of workers forming an assembly line to install more seats, along with other photos of the stadium's construction. Check them out here.

A left-hander, Glavine won 305 games for the Braves and the New York Mets, with a career winning percentage of .600, according to the website for the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
