Hostage Rescued, Suspect Dead After Standoff: Cobb Police
One person has died following a standoff involving a hostage, Cobb County Police said Tuesday afternoon.
SMYRNA, GA — Cobb County Police are investigating a shooting that happened Monday afternoon following a hostage situation in Smyrna.
Shortly after noon, Cobb Police tweeted that they were working a hostage situation at Concord Crossing Apartments, 2935 Old Concord Road in Smyrna, saying that shots were fired.
WSB-TV reported one man was seen throwing items off an apartment balcony, with a second man nearby with his wrists tied together.

Just before 1 p.m., they updated saying the hostage had been rescued, but now the incident was considered an officer involved shooting.
The TV station reported the suspect had been fatally shot by officers during the standoff.

The hostage was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with severe injuries, WSB-TV reported.
