A bit of history is on Lovett's side: The Lions are the last team to defeat the Wolves, beating the eventual 2009 State Champions 28-21 at home. That 2009 game also resulted in the most points scored against Buford in a single game over the past seven seasons.

This year, the Wolves are 5-0, having outscored opponents by a combined score of 224-14.

Whitefield Academy at Landmark Christian

Region play brought out the best in the Wolfpack last week, as they defeated Southwest Atlanta Christian 22-0. It was the first shutout win for since 2009 when they beat Our Lady of Mercy 23-0.

The Wolfpack looked like a total team, getting huge contributions from both offense and defense. Junior running back Richard Sherrell ran for 110 yards on 21 carries. Sophomore defensive end relentlessly pursued the quarterback and finished the game with four sacks.

The win gave the Wolfpack a 1-0 mark in region play to go along with a 2-2 overall record. Whitefield plays its second region contest this week against undefeated Landmark Christian.

It will be a battle of wills as both teams have played well over the last few weeks. Landmark has averaged 61 points per game in their last three victories. The Wolfpack defense has given up just 13 points per game this season.

The Campbell Spartans are off this week.
