Midweek Tunes Abound

Whether you're performing or just listening, there's plenty of local music in the area to fill your needs.

It’s Wednesday and music is definitely in the air starting with today’s announcement that Music Midtown is returning to Atlanta in the fall. It will be a one-day event in Piedmont Park and check out who will be headlining in this report from Midtown Patch.

Closer to home, there’s not one but two open mic nights planned for this evening. Smyrna-Vinings Patch provided a run down of last week’s open mic session at , which as it does every Wednesday will open the floor to performers from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Participants are generally allowed to perform two songs or poems; three if there are few performers scheduled. But remember, performers are only allowed to showcase original work. Covers aren’t allowed.

Meanwhile, musicians, comedians and poets are all welcome to showcase their talents and creativity during open mic at the at 4515 West Village Way in Smyrna. Sign-up begins at 7 p.m. with performances set to begin at the bottom of the hour. Call 770-436-6721 for more info.

If performing isn’t your bag and you’re more into the sitting back and relaxing mode, then check out Tim Brantley from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at ’s River Bar. It’s free and there’s also no cover to see Tyler Reeve perform at Dixie Tavern beginning at 9 p.m.

Looking a head a few days, Sol Junky will be rocking the Village Green in downtown Smyrna Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. See here for more information.
