Snellville Woman Hit By SUV Has Died

Georgette Stovall, 51, died Tuesday as a result of her injuries from the June 24 crash.

SNELLVILLE, GA -- A Snellville woman who was injured when an SUV crossed the road, jumped a curb and hit her has died, police say.

Georgette Stovall, 51, died Tuesday as a result of her injuries from the June 24 crash, Gwinnett County Police reported.

Criminal charges against the driver in the crash, Tiffany Hayes, are still pending.

Police say Hayes, 31, of Snellville, was driving west on Bethany Church Road near Brannan Road as Stovall was walking her dog, Ali, on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the roadway.

Hayes, in a 2009 Honda CRV with a 7-year-old boy in the backseat, traveled across the center line and onto the curb, where she struck Stovall and Ali.

Stovall was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with very serious injuries.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reported that Stovall had a leg amputated due to injuries she suffered in the wreck.

Ali, the dog, went missing for several days after the crash. She was eventually found, with minor injuries.
