Cobb County Police Search for Armed Robbery Suspect

The suspect shot at a clerk at the Dollar General on Six Flags Drive in Austell and made off with the money in the safe.

Police in Cobb County are looking for leads on the identity of a person they say robbed a business in Austell at gunpoint.

Detectives say that the man, armed with a handgun, walked into the Dollar General at 710 Six Flags Dr. and shot the clerk on duty in the head when he looked up. The bullet grazed the clerk’s head, and he was then forced to open the store safe by the gunman. The gunman fired a second shot into a box near the clerk before he was able to unlock the safe. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe, the gunman escaped in a westerly direction down Six Flags Drive.

The gunman is described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old with a thin build. He was last seen wearing dark blue coveralls and a black mask.
