Eagles Trounce Mustangs 40-3 in Homecoming Game

The South Cobb High School Eagles easily handle the Kennesaw Mountain High School Mustangs 40-3 on Friday night.

It's Homecoming weekend in Eagle Country…and boy, did they ever bring it home! Coming off two consecutive losses to two conference opponents, who were both ranked in the top 10 in the state, the Eagles played like they had something to prove. The seniors took charge of the game from the start, but lost focus.

The first score came on a kick off return for a touchdown by senior Jamal Thomas (21). Senior Chris Beck (22) scored on explosive run up the middle and  had two rushing and one passing touchdown. Additionally, senior Gary Jones (5) had two touchdowns to keep the homecoming crowd cheering.

Because of missed extra point opportunities and two touchdowns called back due to penalties, the score was not as high as it could have been. Nevertheless, a tremendous effort was put forth by the Eagles that resulted in their most resounding victory of the season.

The Mustangs managed to score a field goal in the final seconds of play to avoid the shutout.
