Obits: Troglin, Taylor Pass Away

Louie Thomas Troglin, age 86 of Mableton, passed away Jan. 24. He was a member of Fortified Hills Baptist Church and was retired from the City of Atlanta Department of Parks & Recreation. He loved playing the spoons and could do anything with carpentry. He is survived by his son, Philip Troglin of Lithia Springs; grandson, Nathan Troglin of Lithia Springs; brother, Bill Troglin of Decatur and sister, Florence Wingo of Dahlonega. Funeral services were held at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Jan. 28, with Rev. Johnny Ivey officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton. Arrangements are with Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory in Austell.
Jim Taylor, age 75 of Mableton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28. “Big Jim” had been a resident of Cobb County since 1971, was owner-operator of a McDonald's franchise for over 50 years and was active in Cobb County Parks and Recreation. He is survived by his wife, Sandra E. Taylor; children, Tammy Taylor of Austell, Steve Taylor of Austell, Vicki Murray of Boston, Christopher Taylor of Austell, Susan Taylor of Mableton; brothers, Brown Altman and Ronnie Altman, both of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Meredith, Andrew, Brendon, Austin, and Jimmy; and one great-granddaughter, McKenzie. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Thursday from 4 – 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to Cobb Street Ministries, 3970 Ewing Rd, Austell, GA 30106.
