Police Investigating Shooting Death in South Cobb

Cobb County police are investigating the shooting death of a man they say was trying to enter a home without the homeowner’s permission on Thursday.

Eric Lee Collins, 31, was attempting to enter a home in the 6700 block of Malvin Drive in Austell just after 11 p.m. Thursday after being told not to do so. Collins got into a struggle with the homeowner’s son, who was carrying a shotgun. In the course of the struggle, police said, the gun went off and killed Collins.
