Puppies Beheaded, Stabbed in South Cobb

A Mableton man faces five charges in connection with the incident.

A Mableton manΒ allegedly cut off the head of one 6-week-oldΒ puppy with a scissor blade, stabbed anotherΒ in the throat and buried themβ€”along with the weaponβ€”in his backyard.

A black and white pit bullΒ puppy's neck "was completely severed with the head attached to the body by a single piece ofΒ skin," according to an arrest warrant forΒ Robert Davis. "TheΒ neck was cut in what appeared to be a sawing type motion. The spine of the puppy did not appear to cut by a single cut, but instead byΒ several cuts."

TheΒ other puppy's throat wounds were "large and deep," according to the warrant.

Authorities were led to Davis' home in theΒ 1100Β block ofΒ Mable StreetΒ after he told a man that he had killed the puppies, which had been given to him by a 14-year-old child.

When that man went to Davis' homeΒ with theΒ teen,Β DavisΒ allegedly dug upΒ the black and white puppy from its grave and showed them the body, according to the warrant.

"After they left to call police the accused relocated the puppy toΒ another area by throwing the puppy over a fence into thick vegetation in an attempt to conceal the puppy," according to the warrant.

Davis was arrested aboutΒ 11:30 p.m. Saturday at his home on two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and three counts of tampering with evidence.

"The accused stated that he knew that his acts were wrong," according to the warrant.

Davis remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bond.
