2 Kids Killed, 2 Women Injured In DeKalb Shooting

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — A shooting killed two young children and injured two women Sunday in Stone Mountain, police said Monday.

The deadly shooting happened in the 1000 block of North Hairston Road, DeKalb County Police said. It may have resulted from an altercation that occurred early Sunday, police said.

When officers arrived, they found an 11-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A 12-year-old boy that had been taken to a hospital in critical condition was later pronounced dead, police said. Neither of the children were identified.

The shooting injured a 19-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman, who were both taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. The children and women are related.

Police have not identified a potential suspect.

"This is an unimaginable loss for the families involved and our entire community. We extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this senseless tragedy," police said in a news release.
