When April 23, 2012 arrives, what will you be reading? Suspense, Romance or a good Science Fiction title?  Here's a term to throw into your world of all things genre-related—Clean Fiction. Now before we dive into the subject of what Clean Fiction is or isn't, it would probably be a good idea to explain what is so special about April 23, 2012.

April 23, 2012 is World Book Night. It is a day devoted to encouraging young and old alike to spend some time falling in love with the written page all over again. The literary world has certainly given readers an array of genres to choose from; Clean Fiction might not have been on your list. That's okay—by the end of this article, perhaps it will be.

So what is Clean Fiction? To put it simply, it is a book that is void of sex and foul language. There you have it. Sound interesting? To some, the term causes an eyebrow to twitch in the upward position. They wonder if reading a book that is void of sex and foul language would be interesting. After all, studies show that sex sells. Books too have been included in that study. Somewhere. Quite sure.

What Clean Fiction is not: When most hear the term for the first time, their minds travel to the genre of Christian Fiction. This is most understandable, but Clean Fiction is not Christian Fiction. Why? It's not about inspiring one in a religious nature or motivating one to find a spiritual connection. Rather, Clean Fiction is about giving the reader a good story that reaches the mind and heart on an emotional, engaging and entertaining level. Clean Fiction brings the hint of drama and reality into the life of an avid reader.

Here's a little more about Clean Fiction. It's packed with twists and turns. Yes, there are life lessons that can be learned from within its pages. Motivation that can be received and inspiration that can be derived from Clean Fiction;but one thing it is not—boring. So are you ready to fall in love?
