Park Springs Members Get-Away with Dream Away Tours

For the past three years, Ken Humphries, owner of Dream Away Tours has worked closely with Park Springs’ Leisure Services Committee to propose and coordinate trips that really appeal to the various interests of the members. Cruises are especially popular, (“you only have to pack and unpack once!”) and a cruise through the Panama Canal will be offered this spring.

“We provide complete door-to-door service and take all the hassle out of traveling,” says Humphries. “I am proud to say that we provide a first-class, comfortable travel experience, even for some seniors who might not travel any more on their own.”

Last September, 35 Park Springs members joined Humphries on a five-day / four-night getaway to Kentucky, including visits to Berea, Lexington and Louisville. “One of the many highlights of this trip was our visit to Renfro Valley, a large entertainment complex similar to the Grand Ole Opry,” according to Humphries. “We enjoyed a great variety show, Malt Shop Memories, which had everybody tapping their toes!”

Also, Dream Away Tours arranged for the group to have dinner at Rivue, the revolving rooftop restaurant at the Galt House in Louisville.  From 25 stories up, Park Springs members watched the sun set and the moon rise while enjoying a gourmet meal and great camaraderie.  It was a real highlight of this great trip!

Though Humphries has a full time job with the Royal Dutch Shell Group, travel is his passion, and he loves sharing great destinations with the groups he takes. “On these trips, the Park Springs members are like my extended family. We’ve built some great relationships and always have a splendid time!”
