City Council to Vote on Millage Rate Increase

City council meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Stone Mountain city council will vote on an ordinance tonight that would raise the millage rate for property taxes, keeping the amount city citizens pay in taxes unchanged after DeKalb County lowered property assessments.

The decrease in the county's tax assessment for Stone Mountain city properties was 34.01 percent, City Manager Barry Amos said. That means a decrease of $300,000 for the city, he said. The ordinance would adjust the millage rate so that tax payers pay the same amount.

City council meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Also on the agenda:
