DeKalb Sanitation is Rolling Forward to One-day-a-week Garbage Collection & County-Provided Roll Carts

DeKalb County is Rolling Forward to One-day-a-week collection for garbage, recyclables, and yard trimmings.

Key features of the one-day-a-week sanitation collection service change program include:
• Residential customers will not experience a fee increase. Improved efficiencies will reduce our costs to provide service, allowing us to keep sanitation fees at the same level they have been since 2006.
• Standardized containers. The standardized use of green 65-gallon county-provided garbage containers will ensure neighborhoods are cleaner and neater with the reduction of loose trash.
• One-day-a-week consolidated collection. With consolidated collection, solid waste, recyclable materials and yard trimmings will be collected on the same day.
The program’s implementation timeline is as follows:
• Delivery of informational door hangers and direct mail correspondence advising residents of their new collection service day and “go live” date* for one-day-a-week collection service began on Friday, May 29. Delivery will take approximately three to four weeks to complete.
• The delivery process for county-provided green 65-gallon garbage roll carts will begin by Monday, July 6. Delivery will take six to eight weeks to complete. Brochures outlining the new collection and cart procedures, a frequently asked questions (FAQs) document, and the remaining 2015 and entire 2016 holiday collection schedule will be delivered with each roll cart.
• Once-a-week collection is scheduled to begin on Monday July 6, even for customers who have not yet received their county-provided green garbage roll cart. Garbage, recycling, and yard trimmings will all be collected on the
