DeKalb Schools Baseball: Chamblee Extends Consecutive Win Streak to Six Games
Redan and Arabia Mountain also enjoyed strong 3-1 weeks.

Chamblee Bulldog head baseball coach Brian Ely registered his 100th career
victory as a head coach in a 9-1 triumph over Berkmar March 12.
The Bulldogs also knocked off Redan (7-2) March 14 and Carver (14-2) March
16 in running their winning streak to six in a row and improving to 6-3-1
overall.
Dunwoody and Southwest DeKalb also posted strong weeks. Coach Chan
English’s Dunwoody Wildcats blanked Miller Grove (10-0) March 14 and
Douglass (15-0) March 16 in a 2-0 week that ran their winning streak to
five and pushed their overall record to 5-4.
Coach Tyrus Taylor’s Southwest DeKalb Panthers rolled past Douglass (14-3)
March 14, Mays (14-1) March 16 and Columbia (3-0) March 17 in going 3-0
and moving to 6-6 overall for the year.
Arabia Mountain and Redan also enjoyed strong 3-1 weeks. Coach Marvin
Pruitt’s Redan squad scored an impressive 1-0 road triumph over two-time
defending AAAA state champion Marist March 16 and currently sits at 6-4
overall.
Coach Eric Hoxie’s Arabia Mountain (3-5 overall) squad jumped out to a
perfect 3-0 start in Region 5AAA with dominating victories over Cedar
Grove (10-0) March 12, Stone Mountain (14-0) March 14 and McNair (13-3)
March 16.
Individual Highlights
Juniors Josh Shailer (2 IP; 2 SO) and Eric Yost (2 IP; 4 SO) teamed up for
a no-hitter on the mound, while senior Chris Hale (2-2; 2 RS; 2 2B) and
sophomore Will Hudgins (2-2; 2 RS) paced the offense in Dunwoody’s 15-0
shutout over Douglass March 16.
Senior Yannick Williams struck out seven and allowed four hits over five
innings in Stone Mountain’s 13-2 triumph over Towers March 12.
Junior Wes Jones starred on the mound in Redan’s 1-0 blanking of Marist,
striking out six and allowing only three hits over seven innings.
Senior Foster Thomason tossed a five-hit shutout for Druid Hills in an 8-0
triumph over North Springs March 16, striking out six over seven innings.
Senior Michael Frechette starred offensively for the Red Devils, going 3-4
with three RBI.
Juniors Sean Wilson and Brad Earnest ripped homers for Lakeside in a 10-2
decision over Tucker March 14.
