DeKalb Schools Baseball: Redan Making Run in Region 6-AAAA
Redan moves into tie at top of 6-AAAA baseball standings.

Redan registered the lone undefeated week among DeKalb County entrants
last week, going 3-0 to move to a share of the lead in Region 6AAAA.
Coach Marvin Pruitt's Raiders rolled past Tucker (15-0) March 19, Miller
Grove (6-3) March 21 and Douglass (15-0) March 23 by the combined margin
of 36-3 in improving to 9-4 overall for the year and 4-1 in 6AAAA.
Redan's winning streak sets up a battle of two of the top teams in Region
6-AAAA as Dunwoody visits Redan at 5 p.m. today (Thursday, March 29).
Cedar Grove made an equally impressive showing in Region 5AAA, storming to
dominating victories over Druid Hills (9-5) March 19, McNair (11-1) March
21 and Towers (21-3) March 23. Coach Lavato Byrd's Saints also dropped a
13-7 non-region loss to Stephenson March 24 in going 3-1 for the week and
improving to 6-6 overall.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Cedar Grove senior Denzel Washington hurled a five-inning no-hitter in
Cedar Grove's 11-1 triumph over McNair March 21. Washington struck out
seven and allowed one unearned run. Washington also starred at the plate
for the Saints, going 3-3 with four RBI, two runs scored, a homer, a
double and a stolen base. Sophomore Deion Sellers turned in a huge week
offensively for Cedar Grove, going 9-15 with six runs scored, eight RBI,
three triples and eight stolen bases over four games.
Sophomore Miles Fore struck out four over four innings in hurling a
no-hitter for Redan in a 15-0 blanking of Douglass March 23.
Junior Patrick Gaulden continued his mastery on the mound for Chamblee,
striking out three and allowing five hits and one walk over six and
one/third innings in a 1-0 blanking of Lakeside March 23.
Senior Dominique Flynn hurled five shutout innings for Miller Grove in an
11-0 blanking of Carver March 23, striking out five and allowing six hits
for the mound triumph. Senior Sean Charleston (2-2; 5 RBI; 4 SB) and
junior James Moody (2-4; 2 RS; 3 SB) paced the Wolverine offense.
Junior Quinton Huitt struck out 13 and allowed one hit and no earned runs
over seven innings in Lithonia's 7-2 victory over Douglass March 21.
Senior Rasean Fulmore and freshman Leonard Simmons delivered three RBI
each for the Bulldog offense.
