DeKalb Schools Football: Week 7 Schedule/Preview

Only eight of 19 DeKalb high school football teams are in action this coming weekend as Region 6-AAAA teams (eight teams) all have an open date, but several key games are on tap.

Columbia (2-3) and (4-1) are playing a big game in the Region 5B-AAA playoff race as the Pirates host a 7:30 p.m. game at North DeKalb Stadium on Friday night.

Both teams are 1-1 in region play and the winner takes a big step forward in the chase behind Cedar Grove (3-2 overall, 2-0 in region).

Cedar Grove (3-2, 2-0) and Arabia Mountain (1-3, 1-0) both host Region 5B-AAA games as they try to remain unbeaten in region play.

Cedar Grove hosts Towers (0-4) on Friday at Panthersville at 7:30 while Arabia Mountain hosts Woodward Academy (2-2, 0-1) at Adams in a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday.

The No. 3 ranked Jaguars (4-0) host Luella (3-1) in a 7:30 p.m. at Hallford Stadium on Friday in a Region 2-AAAAA matchup.

The Jaguars, 1-0 in the region, try to stay undefeated while Luella, 0-1 in region, try to get in the win column in region action.

The No. 7 ranked Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (4-0) step out of Region 2-AAAAA play as they travel to Valdosta for a game against the undefeated and unranked Wildcats (5-0).

The game is a big road test for the Lions against a Class AAAAA foe.

Saturday, Oct. 1

• Druid Hills (2-3) vs. North Atlanta (1-3), Grady, 4 p.m.
