Five Things to Know Today, Feb. 10

It's thoroughly Thursday, and it's February. What else is there to know? You'd be surprised. Read on.

It's not Friday, but the next best thing. Here are things to know in the meantime:

1. Huge day for Stone Mountain: A groundbreaking ceremony for the new city hall will be at 4 p.m. Mayor Patricia Wheeler will be there, of course, along with DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis.

2. The weather: A high of 42 degrees will melt away any snow we got overnight. Click here for an extended forecast for Stone Mountain.

3. Valentine's Day is only four days away. If you haven't yet ordered flowers, check Patch's directory for a list of local florists.

4. On this day in 1933, the first singing telegram was delivered. Oh, that reminds me: If  you're looking for an unusual Valentine's Day present, get the Stone Mountain Barbershop Chorus to sing for your sweetie. Click here for a video and more info.

5: More cupid stuff: For a really special Valentine's Day, celebrate it a day later at the ART Station. There'll be food, wine and you'll be the first to see "The Outrageous Adventures of Sheldon and Mrs. Levine," a new play opening Feb. 16 at the downtown art center. It's $50 a ticket, and all proceeds go toward funding the nonprofit ART Station. Good cause, good fun. Do let them know you're coming; you'll want to be sure they have enough wine and food.
