Are you ready for another round of picks?
Luella at (Hallford Stadium): Stephenson has been churning out the victories over the first half of the season, including last week’s 56-35 win over a pretty decent Westlake team. The Jaguars (4-0) host a Luella team (3-1) that may look better on paper than in real life. The (Paper) Lions’ three wins have come against smaller-classification teams with losing records, and their only game against upper-class competition resulted in a 37-8 loss to East Coweta last week. There’s no doubt that the Jaguars will win this Region 2-AAAAA matchup. The question is how many yards running back Mike Davis piles up. Stephenson 45, Luella 10.
Columbia at (North DeKalb Stadium): Stone Mountain needed last week’s 21-10 win over Woodward Academy. It confirmed the Pirates’ legitimacy as a playoff contender, and proved they can win a big game. Stone Mountain (4-1, 1-1 Region 5-AAA, Div. B) can take another big step by beating Columbia (2-3, 1-1), which is talented, but inconsistent. Stone Mountain 24, Columbia 12.
