Each week through the high school season, Patch will share our predictions on local football games — and ask for yours. Think you’ve got what it takes to pick a winner?

Let’s get it on.

Parkview at Stephenson: There’s nothing in this matchup that says Parkview can beat the Jaguars. Stephenson is state-ranked in Class AAAAA and loaded with major-college talent, including Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11 pick Jarontay Jones, a defensive end headed to Virginia Tech. The Jags are big, fast and experienced, and a favorite to win the Region 2-AAAAA championship. Parkview, a four-time state titlist, is looking to return to past glory. The Panthers squeezed into the playoffs last year with a 5-5 record, and return few starters from that team. So why even consider the Panthers having a chance? They’ll be ready to play and they always play people tough. Parkview lost in double OT to Stephenson last year, and 10-3 to eventual state champion Brookwood. Stephenson should win but don’t be surprised if there’s an upset. Stephenson 20, Parkview 19.

Westside, Macon at Stone Mountain: Stone Mountain fans have to love the offensive performance in last week’s 28-6 win over Jackson-Atlanta. The Pirates gained 416 yards, including more than 140 rushing yards from each Willie Parker and Fredarius Scott. The defense, led by AJC Super 11 pick Markuss Eligwe, a linebacker who has committed to Flaoirda State, was also stellar. Both sides of the ball will be tested by Westside, a perennial playoff team from one of the state's toughest Class AAA regions. But, hey, we can be optimistic, too. Stone Mountain 24, Westside 17.

Redan vs. Lithonia: This Saturday’s showdown of neighboring schools (4:30 p.m., Hallford Stadium) matches two teams that frequently play close games. This shouldn’t be any different. Redan beat Lithonia 12-6 in 2010. We're not sure things will be any different this time. Redan 10, Lithonia 7.
