Library Events: Breast Cancer Awareness, Blues, Pocket Poetry

DeKalb County libraries always have events and programs going on. Here's what's coming up at the three branches in Stone Mountain-Redan:

Hairston Crossing

Learn about early breast cancer detection on Saturday, April 28 from 2-3 p.m. at Hairston Crossing Library, 4911 Redan Rd. The YWCA of Greater Atlanta’s EncorePlus Program is presenting the program.

Participants will also learn how to get a free mammogram.

Stone Mountain-Sue Kellogg

The Breeze Kings will perform at , 952 Leon Street in the city of Stone Mountain on Saturday, April 28 from 12-1 p.m. According to the county library's web site, the group's music has roots in 1950s Chicago blues with R&B, Delta blues and jazz in for good measure.

Redan-Trotti

Stop by Redan-Trotti Library on Thursday, April 26, any time between 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. to celebrate "Poem in Your Pocket Day." The library is located at 1569 Wellborn Rd. in Lithonia. 

Get a pre-made pocket-sized poem or make your own with library-provided materials.
