Local Man in Custody Following Officer-Involved Shooting in Sandy Springs

About 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sandy Springs Police say LeRon Omar Boone, 34, of Stone Mountain, attempted to rob a customer using the gas pump at the Citgo gas station near I-285.

Sandy Springs Police have a suspect in custody following a shooting and chase with officers on Roswell Road. 

About 6 a.m. Wednesday, police say LeRon Omar Boone, 34, of Stone Mountain, attempted to rob a customer using the gas pump at the Citgo gas station near I-285. The victim ran to the Chevron station nearby where there were two police officers. 

“He tells them the story. They go to the [Citgo] and the suspect is still in his struck,” said Sandy Springs Police Lt. Steve Rose.  “He comes out of the truck with his gun in hand.”

The officers shot at Boone. He was not hit and ran south on Roswell Road. The officers chased the suspect and tackled him in front of an apartment complex, Rose said. 

Boone, his gun and truck are in police custody.
