Lowndes tops Stephenson, 7-0

The first round playoff game between Stephenson and Lowndes high schools was decided by a single touchdown Saturday night.  Lowndes only needed a single touchdown scored in the second quarter to win 7-0.

Defenses on both teams were strong and kept both teams in check throughout the game.  However, Lowndes had the better defense overall and kept Stephenson from getting even into field goal range.  The Lowndes offense did get close enough in the second quarter to attempt a field goal, but it fell short.

In the final 2 minutes of the game Stephenson lost their last chance at getting the ball when they drew a penalty as Lowndes attempted and missed a field goal.

That penalty gave Lowndes a first down and allowed them to ground the ball to end the game.
