The school ended the first semester with a big celebration and toy drive.
brought the first semester to a close with a bang on Friday, Dec. 16: students and faculty had a big celebration in the gym for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), complete with a deejay, special guests and even some dancing.
The school also had tables set up to wrap gifts for the Toyz in Da Hood program, one of several charitable efforts it participated in this year.
Adhering to the theme "Giving Back," Lester Wright, an organizer of the event, said the school also provided five families with food baskets and toys; had a shoe drive where it collected more than 150 pairs of shoes; collected 150 canned foods that went to the Salvation Army; and collected another 300 canned foods for its own food bank.
