It's a good thing that DeKalb County's best running back is playing his best football when his team must be at its best.

Stephenson's Mike Davis rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns last week as the Jaguars beat Newnan 35-13 in a key Region 2-AAAAA game.

He provides the Jaguars a distinct advantage as they face M.L. King this week in a matchup of two 9-0 teams that will determine the region championship.

According to DeKalb County statistics, Davis has rushed for 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns in nine games.

Other top performers:

T.J. Moon, running back: The senior rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Nicholas Gibbons, offensive lineman: The senior was named the team’s offensive player of the week for week 9 (through Oct. 21), as reported to DeKalb County Athletics.

Jared Tucker, defensive back: The sophomore was named the team’s defensive player of the week for week 9 (through Oct. 21), as reported to DeKalb County Athletics. He had nine solo tackles and three assists against East Coweta on Oct. 21.

William Parker, running back: The senior was named the team’s offensive player of the week for week 9 (through Oct. 21), as reported to DeKalb County Athletics. He had 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Aaron Sibley, defensive back:  The senior was named the team’s defensive player of the week for week 9 (through Oct. 21), as reported to DeKalb County Athletics. He had three solo tackles, one assists, one tackle for loss and an interception.

Tevin Isom, wide receiver: The senior was named the team’s offensive player of the week for week 9 (through Oct. 21), as reported to DeKalb County Athletics. He had two receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown, and a 67-yard kickoff return.

Kaleel Hasan, defensive back: The junior was named the team’s defensive player of the week for week 9 (through Oct. 21), as reported to DeKalb County Athletics. He had three solo tackles and two assists.
