Redan Girls Finish Second at Georgia Challenge

Patch was a proud sponsor of the fifth annual Jerry Arnold Georgia Challenge.

A total of 25 teams competed in Saturday's Georgia Challenge at Mill Creek High School. The meet, one of the largest in the state, began at 10 a.m. and continued well into the evening.

Brookwood High School won the boys' meet with 87 points. The Broncos were followed by host  with 63 points and Norcross High School with 60. Peachtree Ridge placed fourth with 51.50 points and Redan and Cedar Grove tied for fifth place with 42 points each.

In the girls' events, Peachtree Ridge High School took first with 89 points. Redan High School finished second with 74, followed by Alpharetta with 56. Cedar Grove and Campbell High School rounded out the top five with 45 and 39 points respectively.

Host Mill Creek won several events. Chandler Griffin won the girls' discus with a throw of 116'. Devonte Lewis won the boys' 100 meter dash with a time of 10.82. In boys' discus, the Hawks' Tyler Cierski took first with a distance of 160'9".

Cross town rival  finished the day in 13th in the girls' events and 16th in the boys'. The Falcons' best performace was a first place finish in the girls' shot put. Anna Machovec won the event with a throw of 37' 2". Machovec also placed second in the girls' discus with a throw of 112'7".

Other teams competing at Saturday's meet included Chamblee, Clarkston, Duluth High School, Eagle’s Landing High School, Lakeside Evans, Lambert High School, Milton, Monroe Area, Morrow High School, North Oconee, Northview High School, Northwest Whitfield High School, Oconee County High School, South Gwinnett, Flowery Branch and North Hall High School.
