Rockbridge Elementary Student Headed to NBA Contest
Zaria Sims will participate in the NBA FIT/WNBA contest.
Zaria Sims, a third grader at in Stone Mountain, is a finalist in the 2012 NBA FIT/WNBA Dribble, Dish, & Swish Nationals Competition, happening Feb.25 as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend in Orlando.
Sims' experience will iinclude the contest, being honored at an awards luncheon, and in-arena recognition during "NBA All Star Saturday Night" presented by State Farm.
“Zaria continues to realize her great potential in basketball, and her love for the game rewards her everyday. As her skills increase, we can expect great things from Zaria," said her coach, William Tarver, in a press release.

Sims, as a member of the Corpus Christi Youth Basketball League, won first place at the local event hosted by (CCYBL) last October, according to the release. She went on to win the regional competition hosted by the Atlanta Hawks last December.
Sims' score was one of the top two nationwide, which qualified her for the National competition presented by Pepperidge Farm® Flavor Blasted® Goldfish®.

Sims will travel next Thursday with her father, Sam Sims, to the event-filled weekend for the NBA Rookie Game, Slam Dunk Contest and the All Star Game.
The NBA All-Star weekend begins with festivities Feb. 24 and lasts through the game on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.
