Rotary Club of Stone Mountain Installs New Board
The Rotary Club of Stone Mountain inducted its 2016-2017 board and recognized key members during its 28 June luncheon.

The Rotary Club of Stone Mountain, a member club of Rotary International, installed its 2016-2017 president and board of directors in June at a member lunch. The club also recognized several members with awards for outstanding service.
Margie Kersey (owner, The Kersey Team) was installed as the club’s new president for the Rotary year that began on July 1; Kersey was District 6900 Governor 2011-2012 and a past president of the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey. Departing president Donna Jensen (managing partner, GeoCreative) will remain on the board as immediate past president. Gillian Leggett (retired) was appointed president-elect for the club, and will take office as president in the 2017-2018 Rotary year.

- Jerry Crane (partner, DNP Holdings), presidential advisor
- George Miranda (director, cancer services, DeKalb Medical), executive secretary
In one of his last appearances as district governor for Rotary 6900, Bob Hagan oversaw the lunch ceremony and recognized two members for outstanding work during his past year in office. Chris Brand (president and CEO of Friends of Disabled Adults and Children and past president of the Stone Mountain Club), was honored for his support of several special projects during the past year, including a polio fund-raising event with the Harlem Ambassadors, and the shipment of medical equipment to earthquake survivors in Nepal. Immediate Past President Jensen was also recognized with a special certificate honoring her commitment to the club for the past year.
“‘Rotary Serving Humanity’ is this year’s Rotary International theme, and the Stone Mountain club has a proud history of service to both our local and international communities,” said Kersey. “I am honored to have been chosen to lead this club through the next year, and look forward to working with our very dedicated and enthusiastic members as we continue to ‘serve humanity’ to the best of our abilities.”

Founded in 1965, the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain is one of 34,000 member clubs of Rotary International. The Stone Mountain club raises and disburses funds for charitable, educational and medical research purposes. Monies are raised through social events and service projects organized by the club and donations offered to the club through members and supporters. Some of the many organizations and projects supported by the club include the DeKalb County Elementary Schools; Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC); Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse; Georgia Piedmont Technical College; The Salvation Army; Stone Mountain Food Bank; Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust (CART); and VFW Operation Santa.
