The lockdown at Stoneview was due to reports of gunfire, but authorities said the sounds were "flash-bang devices deployed by deputies during the operation."
Students and staff members remained safe, school officials said.
Authorities say the suspect remained at large Tuesday afternoon. They have not released a name or description of the person.
"The sheriff's office will continue searching for him until he is apprehended and brought to justice," authorities said in a statement.
Stoneview is located about 3 miles from Evans Mill.
