Stone Mountain Natives Competing in Swimming and Diving Championships for Union College

Kyle Newhouse and Matthew Johnson, both of Stone Mountain will compete in the 2012 NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) National Swimming and Diving Championships for Union College, which is in Barbourville, Ky.

According to a press release, Newhouse is a senior swimming in the 500-free, 400-IM and 1650-free; Johnson is a senior swimming in the 1650-free, 500-free and 200-free.

The press release also notes that head coach Rafael Forti said this year's season has been the most successful of all his years at Union.

"This is the first time we've been consistent throughout an entire season, and no one is injured. The group we are taking (to Nationals) is the best representation of Union College in program history, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish there," said Forti, in the press release.

The competition began Wednesday, Feb. 29 and goes through Saturday, Mar. 3, in Oklahoma City.
