TSPLOST Discussed at City Council Session
Rockbridge Road would undergo general improvements if the measure is passed, representative from Atlanta Regional Commission says.

Mike Alexander with the Atlanta Regional Commission talked about Transportation Investment Act -- the proposed "TSPLOST" one percent sales tax to fund regional transportation upgrades-- to the Stone Mountain city council at this week's work session.
"This is a bottleneck relief program," Alexander said.
Alexander said many residents of the city of Stone Mountain are traveling to Decatur, Emory, the Perimeter and even farther on their daily commutes to work, heavily using 285.

If the referendum passes:
- plans would include a general improvement program for Rockbridge Road (the stretch mostly in DeKalb, Alexander said), adding a mix of more turn lanes, for example.
- Stone Mountain city would get $1.7 million in total revenue over a ten-year period, or $170,000 a year for projects as it saw fit.
People have been very vocal on recent blog posts on Patch about TSPLOST. Voters will decide on the referendum July 31.
