See what businesses have moved into your Stone Mountain neighborhood.
Conch City Seafood
If you've ever asked someone going to the Georgia coast to bring you back some conch or other seafood, the owners of a new restaurant hope you'll now turn to their business with those requests instead.
Four weeks ago, Harold Brinson and Byron Thompson opened Conch City Seafood restaurant, a take-out establishment with a large case of fresh seafood, at 4830 Redan Rd., Suite A.

Back in the early 2000s, Jennifer Collins came up with the name for her business, KnottieHeadz, after she noticed on television a trend of black women wearing their hair natural.
"I said, 'that must be the next big thing,' " Collins said. From there, she came up with the unique moniker.
Collins had been taking care of clients' hair --she does natural and chemically-treated hair -- in the basement of her home before opening Jan. 3 in the former location, 857 Main Street, in the City of Stone Mountain.
Collins said she loves the older house because of its character.
She had been accumulating items such as furniture -- some bright, contemporary pieces, some darker-hued classic ones -- and as she brought them to the house, it seemed like a match made in heaven.
"My stuff fit in perfectly," she said.
Her affinity for mixing the old with the new translates to her overall style.
"I coin myself 'Afrovintage,' " she said.
fresche
Owner Joi Rooks describes her soon-to-open new location, at 5464 Five Forks Trickum Rd., as "an eco-smart salon" called "fresche."
The salon started out in 2003 in Grant Park. Rooks, who has 21 years of experience in the business, then opened in Decatur's Oakhurst Village in 2006.
Rooks' newest location is in the old Rock Garden Flower Shop house. Fresche will offer hair, make-up and waxing services. It will cater to men, women and children.
It is slated to open February 8.
