Coffee With A Cop: Suwanee Police Invite Residents

In an effort to improve communication and to build relationships, Suwanee Police invite residents to join them for cup of joe.

SUWANEE, GA – In an effort to improve communication, trust, and build relationships, Suwanee Police Chief Mike Jones, Capt. Cass Mooney, and Captain Shane Edmisten invite the residents of the City of Suwanee to join them for cup of joe and some conversation. The event will be held at Brown Bag Deli in Town Center on May 1 from 7 - 9 a.m.

“It’s important for our officers to be out in the community when we are not involved in traditional police work,” said Chief Jones. “It’s a unique opportunity to discuss what is going on in both the department and the community, as well as build relationships with the people we serve.”

Launched in California in 2011, as a way for the Hawthorne Police Department to interact more successfully with the citizens they served each day, Coffee with a Cop events are now being hosted in all 50 states and is one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country.

The key to Coffee with a Cop’s growing success is that it opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together. The national program aims to build trust and partnership between law enforcement and members of the community.
