It not only makes the language more familiar, but helps them fall in love with the Arabic stories, culture and community by making story time fun! Join us this Saturday June 6 for a FREE Arabic Storytime, followed by a song and dance, and a craft!You can also join us for our Sahtain wa Hana community lunch, where you and your family can enjoy Arabic classics, like Mahshi (stuffed zucchini and eggplants) this week! Celebrate America DeKalb, a family-friendly community celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary, will take place Sunday, June 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Blackburn Park Pavilion in Brookhaven.
The afternoon will feature patriotic and Americana music, food truck, face painting, bounce house activities for children, complimentary Italian ice, community fellowship, and special guests and performances.
The event will bring together families, neighbors, and community members from across DeKalb County in a warm and welcoming atmosphere celebrating freedom, community, and the American spirit.
Admission is free and open to the public.

Integrated Arabic (Levantine/MSA) – Live Online June 8 – July 31 Evenings · 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (via Zoom) A flexible, conversation-focused class that blends spoken Levantine Arabic with Modern Standard Arabic – perfect for real-life communication.

Learn the art of making Mahshi – one of the Arab world's most beloved comfort foods!&nbsp; More than just a dish, Mahshi is a tradition passed down through generations. In many Arab households, preparing it becomes a family affair, with everyone gathering around the table – one person coring the zucchini and eggplant, another preparing the filling, and others carefully stuffing each piece. It's a labor of love, and many Arab women will proudly tell you that a well-made Mahshi is a true measure of culinary skill! Join us for an afternoon of hands-on cooking as we prepare stuffed zucchini and eggplant filled with seasoned rice and ground beef (with a vegetarian option available). Along the way, you'll discover the traditions, flavors, and stories behind this classic Arabic dish. Atlanta Freedom Bands’ Concert
Band will mark our nation’s 250th&nbsp;anniversary with a concert titled&nbsp;“Americans We: Celebrating Our Shared
Story in Music”.&nbsp;&nbsp;Taking place
on&nbsp;Saturday, June
20, at the Ray Charles Performing Arts
Center at Morehouse College, this Semiquincentennial musical offering features
a diverse array of composers representing a wide array of American voices in
music.
This will NOT be your typical
patriotic concert.&nbsp; We have something unique to offer our community.&nbsp;
Our concert celebrates the diversity, the varied voices, and shared stories
that make up our country.&nbsp; The music will challenge, inform, entertain,
and delight.
The program’s centerpiece is the
premiere of a work AFB has commissioned for the occasion,&nbsp;“We the People” by Christopher Kyle
Green. 
The program features legendary
composers such as&nbsp;Florence
Price&nbsp;and&nbsp;Aaron Copland&nbsp;paired with today’s counterparts such as&nbsp;Erica Svanoe, Quincy Hilliard, Omar
Thomas, and Chandler Wilson.&nbsp; The
selections tell the stories of women who dared to expand beyond their
traditional roles, the achievements of the African American community,&nbsp;Marsha P. Johnson&nbsp;(an important early activist in the transgender
community), and more.
Led by&nbsp;Artistic Director O’Shae Best&nbsp;in his first season with the ensemble, AFB’s
Concert Band will bring these stories spanning the breadth of our nation to
life.

Advent Hope

Advent Hope Atlanta in Tucker, GA, invites local children to join us for our annual Vacation Bible School from June 22 to June 27, running daily from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
This year’s theme, "Wonderfully Made: Get Fit for God!", focuses on combining spiritual growth with healthy, active fun. The action-packed week features daily worship, kids' fitness workouts, hands-on Gardening 101, creative crafts and games, interactive experiments with "The Science Guy," a basic introductory session on First Aid/CPR, and fun food activities.
Registration is completely open to the community, but spots are limited. “Snow White: The Melodrama!” is a sassy but loving take on the classic fairy tale and is packed with verbal wordplay and physical humor, featuring a cast that includes nine “dwarfs” named Bossy, Corny, Ditzy, Hyper, Klutzy, Loquacious, Silent, Trivial and Whiney, each of whom lives up to their name.
	Main Street Theatre puts on four performances of the Michael Wehrli comedy the weekend of June 26, 27 and 28 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tucker. 
	“Our Snow White is a princess for this century!” exclaims director Merle Halliday Westbrook. “She has a mind of her own and a tool belt to assist her with fixing things and facing any challenges that come her way.
	“The play is chock-full of audience participation,” Merle adds. “Who doesn't want a chance to boo and hiss the Evil Queen and cheer the Prince?”
	The cast is composed of Audrey Link (Snow White), August Bee Paraguassu (Queen), Ricky Grimes (Prince Ronald), Milli Waters (Mystic Mirror), Michael Bernard (Servant and Hunter), Kathryn D’Avis (Narrator 1 and Loquacious), Bonnie Parker (Narrator 2 and Silent), Arya Macisco (Bossy), Grace Hiland (Corny), Isabel Ogunleye (Ditzy), Addy Jones (Hyper), Patterson Skidmore (Klutzy), Elina Rao (Trivial) and LiliaRose Johnson (Whiney).
	“Snow White: The Melodrama!” features a diverse group of actors in terms of age and on-stage experience, she notes.
	“Almost everyone in the show has experience in community theatre or on their school stage. The older kids help to set the rehearsal expectations for the younger kiddos. It's a very nurturing relationship. All of our MST family members continue to look after and take care of each other!”
	The Friday show starts at 7 p.m., with two Saturday performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and a Sunday show at 2 pm.
